A vacant tenancy inspired a shared space for all tenants to enjoy.
The brief called for a dynamic, multi-use environment to host training sessions (25–100 people), events, and town halls, with breakout, collaboration, and focus zones integrated to support these functions.
Rooted in “Blended Modernism,” the design merges high-end workplace and hospitality elements, ensuring seamless transitions from AM to PM use. Despite site constraints of limited NLA and ceiling height, a $3,500/sqm budget enabled sophisticated detailing. A striking ceiling design draws the eye, with polished Venetian plaster over seating zones for a contemporary touch and an acoustic grid ceiling over active areas, referencing modernist design. The ceiling mirrors the flooring—hardwood beneath plaster and stone tiles beneath the grid—enhancing symmetry and flow.
To maintain a connection between the lobby and this third space, an Aboriginal artwork by Kate Constantine (Konstantina Aboriginal Art) was integrated into the joinery at the arrivals area, respecting the existing original pieces and reinforcing cultural continuity.
