Communal areas that drove office culture & cross departmental interactions was of key importance in the overall design.
JB Hi-Fi is Australia's largest home entertainment retailer, who wanted to ensure that their new office space for themselves and affiliated company was both practical and reflective of their brand.
Spanning over 9 levels, Hot Black needed to ensure there was a feeling of connectivity amongst staff and that the cultural aspirations of the brand could be supported. With a focus on staff, Hot Black undertook several hands-on workshops that helped to derive key design principles and functional requirements. Communal areas that drove office culture & cross departmental interactions was of key importance in the workplace that enhanced the existing team culture.
Acting as the ‘heart’ of the business, the centralised breakout area was designed to bring together employees regardless of where they worked, or what they did and celebrated the unique opportunity for well known music artists to perform in the space. Quiet spaces, phone booths, meeting rooms and touch down points cleverly located throughout the 9 levels fostered collaboration and diversity of roles. A simple aesthetic that reflects JB HIFI’s retail offering is paired with attention to detail to holistically unify the 9 levels.
